The historic Piccolo Teatro Studio Melato was transformed into GROHE SPA Aqua Sanctuary, a multisensory escape that pays tribute to the brand’s philosophy of Wellbeing through Water.

In a masterful 72-hour transformation during Milan Design Week, the historic Piccolo Teatro Studio Melato became a multisensory escape that pays tribute to the brand’s philosophy of “Wellbeing through Water” – the GROHE SPA Aqua Sanctuary.

This immersive installation celebrates the restorative power of water, through architectural mastery that highlights emotional + sensory design, elevating the bathroom from a functional space into a personal retreat for an enhanced daily experience. 

True to the brand’s philosophy of achieving “Wellbeing through Water”. This collaboration empowers architects and designers to create harmonious spaces that redefine expressive interiors and invite emotional interaction.

A Narrative of Three Sanctums

The Aqua Sanctuary Journey is articulated through three interconnected spaces, each highlighting the fusion of craftsmanship and water:

Sanctum I: Nature Reimagine Through Technology

At the heart of the first sanctum stood the GROHE SPA AquaTree, with its stunning fluid, organic silhouette, challenging the preconception of what a shower should look like. Inspired by nature, this biophilic approach combined with advanced three dimensional printing creates a shower which is grown rather than manufactured. Complementing this is a ceiling-suspended faucet featuring two distinct water sources, a laminar flow and a fountain spray, perfectly tailored for refined skincare rituals.

Sanctum II: The Evolution of Bespoke Harmony

Reimagining the bathroom as a fully-integrated space, it focused on absolute visual harmony through the GROHE SPA Atrio Private Collection, which featured a refined fusion of premium materials, sophisticated finishes and an exquisite palette of handle designs featuring delicate quartz inserts. A standout collaboration with the GROHE SPA x Buster + Punch  merges metal hardware and lighting with water solutions for a single, cohesive design language, while the GROHE SPA Private Collection Vanity showcased the transformative essence of water and multisensory design, converging integrated steam, mist, and aromatherapy for a holistic wellbeing experience.

Collaborating with global pioneers Caesarstone, exquisite materials were used into the GROHE SPA Atrio Private Collection faucet designs, elevating them into sculptural masterpieces.

Sanctum III: The Symphony of Rituals

The final sanctum deconstructed the bathroom into three essential acts to distill the restorative power of water:

Preparation: Cleanses the mind and awakens the senses. The “levitating” silhouette of GROHE SPA Allure Gravity in Phantom Black with Caesarstone Vanilla Noir details mirrors this lightness, while its interchangeable inserts allow for a deeply personalized sanctuary that reflects the quiet intimacy of self-care rituals.

Relaxation: Releases all tension in the soft embrace of warm water, surrendering to the gentle ripple rhythms. The layered bath mixer design of the GROHE SPA Allure Gravity intertwines ritual with a gentle water rhythm.

Rejuvenation: Acts as a ritual of regeneration and vibrant vitality. The modular GROHE SPA Rainshower Aqua Tiles allow users to orchestrate a personalized symphony of water, while the intuitive, flush-mounted Grohtherm controls let technology recede to keep the focus entirely on your sensation. 

Sustainability Meets Luxury

The Aqua Sanctuary also showcases LIXIL’s pioneering material innovations. The Allure Gravity collection explores five exquisite, sustainable materials each selected for their luxury, sensory qualities, and innovation. Besides Marine Teak, Cordovan Leather and Kintsugi, two pioneering material innovations from LIXIL are central to this exploration, like revia, a breakthrough circular material made from recycled waste, and PremiAL R100, a premium recycled aluminum. These advancements prove that environmental responsibility and luxury design can exist in perfect harmony. By giving a second life to resources, it proves that high-end aesthetics and environmental responsibility can exist in perfect harmony.
