The United Architects of the Philippines (UAP) is set to formally unveil OBRA, the new title and identity of the UAP Design Excellence Awards 2026, during its upcoming Media Launch and Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing with Davies Paints Philippines, the Exclusive Program Partner of the awards. The event will bring together UAP leaders, Davies Paints executives, media partners, and representatives from the architectural community as UAP introduces the refreshed identity of its flagship awards program.
OBRA represents the organization’s highest honor for architects and their built work. As the foremost recognition program of UAP, OBRA was established to promote outstanding architectural design and highlight projects that demonstrate purpose, relevance and vision. The new identity reinforces architecture as an authored act rooted in intention, clarity, and cultural expression. Historically used in the Philippines to mean a work of art, the term obra reflects the creative and enduring impact of built environments on communities and national development.
During the launch, UAP and Davies Paints Philippines will reaffirm their shared commitment to elevating design standards, strengthening public awareness of architecture and supporting the profession through meaningful collaboration.
As part of the 2026 cycle, the registration period will run from December 1, 2025 to February 27, 2026, marking the formal opening of submissions. Shortlisted entries will be exhibited during the UAP National Convention in April 2026, offering both the public and the profession a preview of projects that exemplify thoughtful and responsible architectural practice. The cycle will culminate with the OBRA Gala and Awarding Ceremony in May 2026, where UAP will present its highest distinctions for built work.
UAP encourages its members in good standing to prepare their entries for OBRA 2026. Eligible submissions include built projects completed from 2020 onward, representing work that contributes meaningfully to the built environment.
